Fourways Gardens was originally developed by AMPROS in 1984 as a secure Estate with "state of the art" security. The Estate consists of 939 residential homes, with a cluster and townhouse development comprising 37 and 28 units respectively. The emphasis is on the family and being able to live in a relaxed and secure environment.

The Estate is divided into four phases in which there are parks equipped with playground and sport equipment. Two parks have dams with ducks and various types of birdlife. A Nature Reserve has been established in the Estate and indigenous fauna and flora exists within this area. The Clubhouse situated on the main dam is the 'heart of the community' and is used for various functions, events and get togethers.
